What is Hyundai's Hope On Wheels?

Hyundai's Hope on Wheels is the united effort of all 830 Hyundai dealers across the country to raise awareness about childhood cancer and celebrate the lives of the courageous children battling the disease. Each year, Hope on Wheels visits children's hospitals across the country to donate funds to support further training and study for doctors involved in childhood cancer research. Since joining the fight against pediatric cancer in 1998, Hyundai has funded over 840 research projects totaling​ ​more​ ​than​ ​$130​ ​million. A key part of the campaign was to connect with TV and radio stations in communities across the country where dealers are located and hospitals were visited. Hyundai partnered with Lyons Broadcast PR to produce a Satellite Media Tour to support this effort.

Why do a Satellite Media Tour?

Hope on Wheels wanted to share its story with millions of people across the country, but traveling from city to city to do in-person interviews is just not cost-efficient. A Satellite Media Tour allows for a series of live and taped interviews with TV and radio stations across the country to be done in just 3-4 hours from a production studio, helping to reach millions of people through local morning shows in key media markets, as well as a national audience through syndicated TV/radio programs…all in one morning!

Whenever our spokespeople are in Washington, the National Press Club's Broadcast Operations Center is our go-to partner for media tours and other projects where we need to reach media in other parts of the country. The production team at the Press Club is top-notch and their facility is state-of-the art, while also being a relaxed and comfortable setting which is a huge plus when you are working feverishly for three hours straight to connect live with 30+ TV morning shows across the country. We've worked with the NPC for many years and I can say without hesitation they are among the best in the business anywhere in the country, and they also are very flexible with scheduling and budgets.

The Satellite Media Tour was an overwhelming success! Our youth ambassadors impressed everyone on both sides of the camera with their poise, attitude and personal courage as they shared their stories. In just under three hours, we did live or pre-recorded interviews with more than 30 news outlets across the country, including KING5 (NBC) in Seattle, WA, ABC7 in Ft. Meyers, FL and KOB4 (NBC) Albuquerque, NM as well as stations in Boston, Chicago, Cincinnati and others. The media tour spread the message and mission of Hope on Wheels – to bring hope to children affected by childhood cancer, support the hospitals and medical professionals working to care for them, and fund the research that brings us closer to better treatments and, ultimately, a cure.
