A limited number of tickets remain for the Friday, Dec. 5, National Press Club luncheon with National Hockey League Commissioner Gary Bettman and Monumental Sports CEO Ted Leonsis. University of Virginia President Teresa Sullivan has canceled her appearance at a National Press Club luncheon, which was set for Monday, Dec. 1, amid the controversy surrounding allegations of rape at a university fraternity. Nov. 26, 2012: The Club honors Nelson Mandela with a program, Life, Legacy and Values of Nelson Mandela, in conjunction with the South African Embassy. Mandela spoke twice at the Club, first in 1991 as president of the African National Congress, 22 months after his release from prison, and then in 1994, as president of South Africa.
