Tickets still available for Leonsis-Bettman luncheon Friday
A limited number of tickets remain for the Friday, Dec. 5, National Press Club luncheon with National Hockey League Commissioner Gary Bettman and Monumental Sports CEO Ted Leonsis.
Bettman and Leonsis will discuss the growth of the NHL and the outdoor 2015 Winter Classic game slated to take place at Nationals Park on Jan. 1.
Bettman has served as NHL Commissioner since 1993. Before coming to the NHL, he served as senior vice president and general counsel to the National Basketball Association. Under his leadership NHL revenues have grown from $400 million in 1993 to over $3 billion. He also led the NHL’s expansion with the addition of six new teams.
Leonsis, whose company Monumental Sports & Entertainment operates the NHL’s Washington Capitals, NBA’s Washington Wizards, WNBA’s Washington Mystics and Washington’s Verizon Center, is the former co-CEO of AOL. He is also chairman of the board of directors of Groupon, a cofounder and partner of Revolution Growth Fund II and created and produced the award-winning film “Nanking.”
The Stanley Cup, the trophy awarded annually to the winner of the NHL playoffs, will be on display at the luncheon.
The luncheon will begin promptly at 12:30 p.m. Remarks will begin at 1 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session, ending at 2 p.m. To puchase tickets, click here.

NPC members who wish to attend the pre-luncheon reception must RSVP separately to [email protected] 48 hours before the event. Space may be limited. You must have a paid reservation to the luncheon to attend the VIP reception.
