If it's May, it must be time for Jazz Night at the National Press Club! The Club is once again hosting an evening of music with Blues Alley, Georgetown’s home for jazz, for an evening of great music, and this year there's a literary twist. Larry Tye will be on hand Thursday, May 23, to discuss his new book "The Jazzmen: How Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong and Count Basie Transformed America." Volunteers sought for Club's Member Author Group
The Member Author Group is here to assist Club members promote their books and needs volunteers to help out. The group is looking for members attend monthly meetings and participate in the give-and-take of selecting books and offering ideas for presentations. Once an event has been chosen, a member of the group volunteers to act as liaison with Club staff to arrange the date and time. That person then works with the author to write a notice in the Wire and introduces the author at the event.
