American Legion Post 20 meeting on June 11 notes 250th anniversary of U.S. Navy
On October 13, 1775, the Continental Congress authorized the creation of a naval force, and the upcoming meeting of American Legion Post 20 looks ahead to the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Navy. The luncheon meeting will take place on Wednesday, June 11 at noon in the McClendon Room at the National Press Club. The guest speaker will be Dale Eng, with the Communication and Outreach Division of the Naval History and Heritage Command. Photography Team Holiday Party
National Press Club's Photography Team holds its annual holiday party on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 12:00 noon in the Cosgrove Lounge. The event offers an opportunity to thank our intrepid crew of volunteer photographers for covering Club events for the Wire and web site during the year. And as we've done before, we ask holiday party participants to send in a digital photo on a holiday-related theme to display and tell the story behind the photo. The photo theme this year is "play". Post 20 member and Military Veterans in Journalism founder Zack Baddorf will lead a panel discussion on various media/military issues. Political History Curator to Discuss 2024 Campaign and Election at American Legion Meeting
Dr. Claire Jerry, curator of the Division of Political History with the National Museum of American History, plans to discuss the 2024 election season at the next meeting of American Legion Post 20. Dr. Jerry will address how the museum recorded and interpreted the events of the 2024 electoral season and how those events are reflected in exhibits. The luncheon meeting takes place at noon on Wednesday, February 12 in the McClendon Room at the National Press Club. All Press Club members are invited.
