Roundtable Dinner focuses on importance of openness, transparency, accountability

In the wake of the Boeing Company’s handling of its door-plug issue and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s delay in telling the president and others about his recent hospitalization, the National Press Club's Communicators Team’s Feb. 7 Communicator and Journalist Roundtable Dinner focused on the importance of openness, transparency and accountability for organizations facing a public information challenge.

“By sharing concerns, ideas, approaches and strategies at these dinners, members help each other be more effective in our professional roles,” said Paul Minehart, who coordinates the dinners.

NPC President Emily Wilkins and special guest retired Army Maj. Gen. Mari K. Eder joined the conversation in the Reliable Source’s Cosgrove Lounge.

The dinners are open to Club members and their invited guests. Dinner attendance is capped at about 20 and features lively discussion on current topics that members face in their profession. Members are encouraged to bring up topics they feel would be beneficial for the group to discuss.

The remaining 2024 Communicator and Journalist dinners are scheduled for April 10, July 17 and Oct. 23.
