NPC Board adopts new rules for speaker luncheon VIP receptions

One of the most notable benefits of membership at the National Press Club is the VIP reception for the NPC luncheons. As a member you have the opportunity to have a private audience or take a picture with the likes of Alec Baldwin, Angelina Jolie, Ben Bernanke, or Mitt Romney.

To make this exclusive member benefit a more enjoyable experience for members and a less overwhelming experience for our speakers, President Theresa Werner and the Board of Governors revised the VIP reception attendance guidelines so that all members have a opportunity to meet and greet with luncheon guests.

The reception guidelines are:

All members who have purchased a ticket to a luncheon may attend the VIP reception for a NPC Luncheon. A member must present his or her membership card and a NPC luncheon ticket to attend a VIP reception;

To attend a VIP reception, an NPC member must RSVP 48 hours before the luncheon event by emailing [email protected]. Please write the name of the speaker and the date of luncheon in the subject line. This email will be your confirmation and you will not receive a call back or a confirmation;

An NPC member can bring no more than to two guests (non-NPC members) per VIP reception. If an NPC member is bringing a guest, he or she must email the name and title of the guest to [email protected]. Guests must be accompanied by the NPC member to the reception;

If a NPC member would like to bring more than two guest to a reception, he or she may request a guest waiver for up to six guests. (Members are limited to one waiver per year.) The request must be sent in writing to [email protected] and will be reviewed by the NPC president. Written confirmation will be provided for guest waivers only and the NPC member must present the confirmation letter at the door of the VIP reception before the NPC member's guests will be allowed to enter the VIP reception.

If you have any questions, please email NPC Board Member Shawn Bullard at [email protected].
