Status of F-22 Fighter Program

This was a news conference to discuss the future of the F-22 fighter program. The briefing was given by the plane's builder, Lockheed corporation. The F-22 will be the air force's replacement for the F-15 fighter. Full production would begin in 1998 continuing through the year 2009. The total program cost is estimated at 71 billion dollars for 442 aircraft, or about 162 million dollars per plane.
