Tickets for Takei Luncheon Limited to Members and Guests Through Friday

Actor and gay rights advocate George Takei, best known for his role as Hikaru Sulu on ``Star Trek'' will speak about LGBT issues at a Club luncheon on Friday, Oct. 18.

Sulu was the helmsman aboard the USS Enterprise in the original Star Trek television series, and later was promoted to captain of the USS Excelsior. Takei has become and outspoken advocate for the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered people and for the rights of Japanese-Americans.

Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m., with remarks beginning at 1 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session ending at 2 p.m. This event is limited to Press Club members who may bring two guests each. If tickets are still available after Friday, sales will open to the general public.

Tickets are $21 for Club member and up to two guests, and $35 for all other non-member tickets. NPC Members who wish to attend the pre-luncheon reception must RSVP separately to [email protected] 48 hours before the event. Space may be limited. You must have a paid reservation to the Luncheon to attend the VIP reception.
