'Putin’s Trump Card' is topic for April 16 Kalb Report

The next Kalb Report, hosted by Marvin Kalb, will focus on President Donald Trump’s relations with Russia’s Vladimir Putin.

The program begins at 8 p.m. on Monday, April 16, in the Ballroom. Attendees should be seated by 7:45 p.m. Admission is free, but seats are limited. National Press Club members can register online.

Kalb will host New York Times Chief White House Correspondent Peter Baker; Retired Marine Gen. John Allen, president of the Brookings Institution; Mary Louise Kelly, host of NPR's "All Things Considered;" and Leon Aron, a scholar at the American Enterprise Institute.

Calling the relationship a "perplexing and potentially dangerous threat to our democracy," Kalb said the panel plans to talk about what Putin is trying to accomplish and whether the Trump administration is wittingly or unwittingly playing into Putin’s plans.

"Nothing appears more important today than President Trump’s relationship with Russia," Kalb said. "It is the source of a major investigation, a source of turmoil in U.S.-Russia relations and a mystery that must be resolved."
