Panel to discuss U. S. Immigration Reform May 20

"U.S. Immigration Reform: What's Ahead" will be the focus of a panel
discussion organized under the auspices of the International Center for
Journalists and the National Press Club's International Correspondents
Committee from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 20, in the Holeman Lounge.

The event coincides with what is considered unprecedented momentum for
immigration reform in the U.S. Congress.

Cindy Carcamo, a national correspondent for the Los Angeles Times, who covers
border and immigration issues, will moderate the discussion.

Other participants are Luis Miranda, former director of Hispanic media at
the White House; Jeffrey Passel of the Pew Hispanic Center and Mark
Krikorian of the Center for Immigration Studies.

Following the discussion, there will be a reception honoring ICFJ's 20
International Reporting Fellows, who will be going abroad for up to three
weeks to report global stories for U.S. media in their local communities.
Carcamo herself is a former fellow in the program.

Please RSVP by Monday, May 13 to Lindsey Wajert at [email protected] or phone
202-349-7605.
