Obit: Fourth Estate Award winner Simeon Booker

Simeon Booker, a Golden Owl member and National Press Club Fourth Estate Award winner, died Sunday, Dec. 10, at the age of 99. His widow, Carol Booker, said he passed peacefully surrounded by family.

Booker, who in 1956 became the second African-American to join the Club, won its top award in 1982. In January he held the Bible on which Club President Jeff Ballou took the oath to become the Club's first African-American male president.
