Next Kalb Report examines March on Washington 50 years later

Join host Marvin Kalb on Tuesday, Aug. 27 at 8 p.m. as he talks with civil rights leader Julian Bond, PBS NewsHour anchor Gwen Ifill, Morehouse College President Dr. John Wilson and Dorothy Gilliam, the first African-American woman reporter for The Washington Post, about the 1963 March on Washington and the significance of Dr. Martin Luther King’s “I Have a Dream” speech.

As a reporter for CBS News, Kalb was 20 feet from King as he made his memorable speech.

“It thrilled me then, and it resonates to this day with its message of hope for the best of America,” Kalb said.

Marking the 20th anniversary of “The Kalb Report,” Kalb and his guests will talk about the importance of the news media in covering the civil rights movement, the state of civil rights in America today, and how the lessons learned from 1963 can be applied to the digital age.

Admission is free but seats are limited. Please reserve by calling the National Press Club events line, 202-662-7501. The program will start promptly at 8 p.m. so please be sure to be seated several minutes early.
