New date for Books & Brunch discussion of Jon Meacham's "Soul of America"; Now Dec. 15

Due to a booking conflict, the National Press Club Books & Brunch planned for this Saturday has been rescheduled to Dec. 15.

Please join the group for a lively discussion of "The Soul of America" by Jon Meacham at noon on Saturday, Dec. 15, in The Fourth Estate restaurant.

The New York Times calls "The Soul of America" both engaging and troubling. "Meacham returns to other moments in our history when fear and division seemed rampant. He wants to remind us that the current political turmoil is not unprecedented, that as a nation we have survived times worse than this." One of the most interesting aspects of Meacham's discourse is how he contrasts some of our revered leaders' successes with their failures, as well as contrasting our less distinguished leaders with their achievements.

Share your insights regarding our society and its ability to survive its current divisions and come together as a unified, diverse population over a tasty brunch at the Fourth Estate.

Books and Brunch is open to all Club members and their guests. Lunch may be ordered off the restaurant's menu. It is not mandatory to read the book -- plenty to learn from hearing the discussion.

If you are able to attend, please contact Fay Iudicello at [email protected] or call her at (703) 989-4503 before noon on Thursday, Dec. 13. We want to assure adequate seating and service for all attendees.
