Gun Rights Advocate to Speak at June 5 Newsmaker

Dick Heller, the litigant in District of Columbia v. Heller, the case in which the Supreme Court's Republican majority for the first time interpreted the Second Amendment as protecting an individual's right to bear arms, will appear at a Newsmakers event at 10 am Wednesday, June 5.

Heller will discuss efforts, following the killing of 20 elementary school students in Newtown, Connecticut, to enact legislation that would require all firearms purchasers, including those at gun shows and online, to undergo federal background checks. He will also discuss other proposed measures concerning gun rights.
