FEC chairwoman to headline panel on covering campaign finance in 2020

Federal Election Commission Chairwoman Ellen Weintraub and Center for Responsive Politics Executive Director Sheila Krumholz will headline a National Press Club Journalism Institute program on covering campaign finance on Monday, March 18.

The program will run from 10 a.m. to noon in the Bloomberg Room. Registration is required, and tickets are $5 for Club members and $10 for nonmembers. Register and buy tickets online.

Panelists will talk about how to cover campaign finance for reporters who don't normally cover the issue. Bring a laptop to get the most out of the program.

Among the topics to be discussed are how to spot fundraising problems, how to fact-check numbers, how to highlight influence buying and what 2016 trends will be of the most concern in 2020.

Besides Weintraub and Krumholz, the speakers will include Paul Seamus Ryan, vice president for policy and litigation at Commnn Cause; and Anita Kumar, a White House correspondent at Politico.
