EPA Administrator McCarthy plans climate discussion at NPC breakfast, Sept. 20, 9 a.m.

Gina McCarthy, administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency, plans to discuss priorities in dealing with climate change at a National Press Club breakfast at 9 a.m. on Sept. 20.

Breakfast will be served at 8:30 a.m., with remarks beginning at 9 a.m., followed by a question-and-answer session ending at 10 a.m. Tickets cost $21 for Press Club members (NPC Members may purchase 2 tickets at this rate) and $35 for all other non-member tickets. Tickets may be purchased online by clicking here. For questions, please email [email protected] or call (202)662–7501. Tickets must be paid for at the time of purchase.

McCarthy plans to highlight President Barack Obama’s plan to reduce carbon pollution and address the effects of a changing climate. She also plans to discuss her vision for the EPA and challenges the agency will face going forward.

The environmental health expert was confirmed as Obama’s second EPA chief in July. She had served as assistant administrator since the beginning of Obama’s presidency. She recently argued that climate change is not just an environmental problem but also a threat to U.S. economic prosperity.

To submit a question in advance, put MCCARTHY in the subject line and email to [email protected] before 7 a.m. Sept. 20.
