How can communication professionals expediently handle crises and effectively manage the flow of information? What are the best vehicles for reaching the public quickly? How can facts prevail over misinformation? What is the most effective way for an organization to communicate its wrongdoing? How can a crisis be averted? How can damage be minimized? These questions and more will be addressed during this panel discussion with Communicators Team members about crisis communication.

This event is open only to NPC members and there is no charge for admission. Beverages and snacks will be available for sale at the Reliable Source Bar and Grill. Networking and socializing will begin at 6 p.m., and the program will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Moderator

Steve Honig has been at the forefront of the public relations business for the past 35 years, having navigated worlds as diverse as Hollywood, Wall Street, Silicon Valley, the Olympics, New York’s fashion industry, the Las Vegas Strip and Washington, D.C. He has represented some of the world’s most recognizable companies, personalities and brands in a variety of businesses and industries. Honig has handled numerous crisis situations for individuals and organizations over the years. Panelist

Karen Naumann, APR, PMP, is a multifaceted, seasoned practitioner with more than 25 years of communication experience. She is a communications educator, executive, and author. She is a DoD contractor and an Adjunct Instructor and Course Developer in Crisis Communications at West Virginia University, where she instructs active military, earning a graduate degree. The award-winning communicator is frequently tapped as a speaker and facilitator for conferences and events on topics ranging from Cognitive Biases and Crisis Communications to Strategic Communications and Persuasion. She is also a frequent contributor to national publications and a published author in public relations. Naumann is Accredited in Public Relations (APR).
