NPC Book Event

Registration/tickets required

As Washington is once again embroiled in an impeachment battle, come hear about the days leading up to the resignation of President Richard Nixon from an eyewitness to those events. James Reston, Jr., will present his book, The Impeachment Diary: Eyewitness to the Removal of a President, at a National Press Club Headliners Book Rap on Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 6:30 p.m.

Reston wrote the diary in real time as the Watergate scandal evolved into an impeachment process. He found the diary in his papers in the fall of 2018 and as he wrote in the preface he was “astonished at its relevance to the current situation.”

This event will take place in the Club’s Conference Rooms, and will feature a moderated discussion with the author, an audience question-and-answer session, and a book signing. Tickets cost $5 for members of the National Press Club and $10 for the general public.

Preordered books will be available for pickup and signing at the event. Attendees will also be able to purchase books at the door. Proceeds from the book sales benefit the National Press Club’s non-profit affiliate, The National Press Club Journalism Institute, so we kindly ask that you leave all outside books at home.

Reston was the Watergate expert who assisted David Frost in his historic Nixon Interviews, and he consulted with playwright Peter Morgan in the development of the play Frost/Nixon, which was made into the movie of the same name.
