American Legion Post 20 to Host British Defense Attache

The next luncheon meeting of American Legion Post 20 will be held on Wednesday, June 21 at noon in the Cosgrove Room at the National Press Club. The guest speaker will be Rear Admiral Tim Woods of Britain's Royal Navy. Admiral Woods is Britain's Defense Attache in Washington, and he previously served as Defense Attache in Ukraine. He will offer his perspective on common US/UK national security issues ranging from the war in Ukraine to tensions with China.

Admiral Woods joined the Royal Navy in 1988 after training at Britannia Royal Naval College in Dartmouth, England. His experience includes service in Afghanistan, deployments to the Far East, submarine patrols, and assignments to NATO. He is a graduate of the prestigious Royal College of Defence Studies, where he was awarded the Wellington Prize for Strategic Analysis. He also holds two Master's degrees from the University of Cambridge, including a Master of Philosophy in International Relations.

All Press Club members are invited to the meeting. Post 20 is affiliated with NPC, and it was founded at the suggestion of famed WWI General John J. Pershing, who was an associated member of the Press Club.

This will be a hybrid meeting, with a Zoom component for those who live outside the DC area or who cannot get to the Press Club. The Zoom link is posted below.
