It’s mid-July, and triple-digit temperatures are baking the D.C. area. How to cope? Make the best of it by enjoying the Club’s Summer BBQ Buffet in the Reliable Source tonight, Thursday, July 18. Besides the spread of summer barbecue favorites, the event will feature music performed by the Greater U Street Jazz Collective. The buffet , open to Club members and guests, opens at 5:30 p.m. The jazz performance begins at 6 p.m. in the Truman Lounge. Press Club's American Legion Post Meeting to Feature Head of Mariners' Museum
The president and CEO of the Mariners' Museum and Park in Newport News, Virginia, plans to speak at the next meeting of the National Press Club's American Legion Post. Howard Hoege III will describe the museum's collection, which includes more than 200 tons of artifacts recovered from the USS Monitor. Post 20's luncheon meeting will take place at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 4 in the McClendon Room. All Club members are invited. The Monitor was the first ironclad vessel commissioned by the U.S. Navy.
