You also have an opportunity to win great prizes, put your knowledge to the test, make new friends and enjoy yourself. Access to media center for Iowa Caucuses available for National Press Club members
National Press Club members who plan to be in Des Moines, Iowa, to cover the Feb. 1 caucuses can get free workspace at the Microsoft Media Center, said Sandy Johnson, president of the National Press Foundation and former AP bureau chief. The media center plans to offer connectivity and work stations in an attempt to provide journalists with a temporary, centralized workplace conveniently connected to downtown restaurants and hotels via the skywalk. NPC hosts Republican Debate Watch Party, Nov. 10, 7 p.m., in First Amendment Lounge
The National Press Club plans to host a watch party for the next Republican Debate on Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. in the NPC's First Amendment Lounge. Tickets are $15 for non-members and $10 for members. Click here for tickets. You may make an evening of it by making a dinner reservation at the Reliable Source or Fourth Estate restaurants before the event begins. The Reliable Source will also be showing the debates but that is only be open to members. Both locations plan to offer special drinks.

National Press Club calls on Turkish government to protect press freedom
The National Press Club is deeply concerned the Oct. 28 raid on the Koza-Ipek media group in Ankara is politically motivated and is another sign of the deteriorating press freedom in Turkey. The National Press Club's Books & Brunch group plans to meet Saturday, Nov. 21 to discuss a novel, The Green Road by Anne Enright, and enjoy a la carte brunch at the NPC's Fourth Estate restaurant. All Press Club members and their guests are invited to join us for a lively discussion. The group meets at noon.
