New Club president Mike Balsamo to take gavel at today's general membership meeting
Incoming National Press Club President Mike Balsamo takes the gavel at the next general membership meeting, scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, in the Conference Rooms. There will not be a livestream. Hors d'oeuvres will be served in the Truman Lounge after the meeting. Each meeting attendee also will receive a complimentary drink ticket. You must be an NPC member to attend. Registration is required. The Club's presidential inauguration gala is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 7.

New computers installed in Eric Friedheim National Journalism Library
The Eric Friedheim National Journalism Library now features three new computers for use by members. NPC members are encouraged to visit the library during Club hours to use the computers for the following resources, free of charge: The Bloomberg Terminal, which covers news in more than 100 countries with real-time information on markets, economies, politics, and more. Using the Terminal, members can find breaking news worldwide along with proprietary research. Club member named Bangladeshi ambassador to Mexico
National Press Club member Mushfiqul Fazal Ansarey is Bangladesh's newest ambassador to Mexico. A Club member since 2015, Fazal was named to his position on Jan. 27 by Muhammad Yunus, the chief adviser of Bangladesh's interim government. Fazal said he accepted the position because it was a great opportunity to work with Yunus, nicknamed “Banker to the Poor,” who won a Nobel Peace Prize in 2006 for founding the Grameen Bank in Bangladesh and pioneering microfinance. Microfinance is financial services provided to low-income individuals or groups typically excluded from traditional banking.…

Reliable Source is bustling in February
February is the shortest month of the year, but the Reliable Source restaurant is not short of activity. Just as it is every month, it is bustling. Besides its long popular TGIF Taco Night every Friday, two special events are slated: Thursday, Feb. 13, 7 p.m., Truman Lounge -- Pub Quiz Friday, Fri. 14, 5:30 p.m., Reliable Source/Cosgrove Lounge and McClendon Room -- Valentine's Day Dinner, (Plus the weeklyl TGIF Taco Night in the Reliable Source at 5:30 p.m..) Scholarship team seeks volunteers this spring to judge Club scholarship applications
The National Press Club Scholarship Team is seeking volunteers this spring to review and select recipients for all 2025 NPC scholarships. Each judge commits to: Reviewing applications for one of the five scholarship opportunities offered by the Club. Being available the morning of May 3 for a Zoom meeting to discuss and select the scholarship winner. Being available to evaluate applications independently (on your own time) the two weeks leading up to May 3. Political history curator to discuss 2024 campaign and election at American Legion meeting, Feb. 12
Dr. Claire Jerry, curator of the division of political history at the National Museum of American History, will discuss the 2024 election season at the next meeting of American Legion Post 20. Jerry will address how the museum recorded and interpreted the events of the 2024 electoral season and how those events are reflected in exhibits. The luncheon meeting takes place at noon on Wednesday, Feb. 12 in the McClendon Room at the National Press Club. All Press Club members are invited.
