We are excited to host the ‘Make Blue the New Pink’ Gala on November 11th, 2022 at the National Press Club in Washington DC. This year’s theme, “Make Blue the New Pink” was designed to bring attention to the reality that prostate cancer diagnoses are increasing and surpassing the number of breast cancer diagnoses. Just as pink ribbon awareness is synonymous with breast cancer, we hope to increase the recognition of blue-ribbon awareness for prostate cancer as a similar symbol. Vivian Awards
National Press Club President Jen Judson will recognize journalist and communicator members for outstanding service to the Club at the Vivian Awards ceremony on Wednesday, December 14 at 6:00 p.m. The presentation will take place at the National Press Club in the First Amendment Lounge and is open to those Club members who are actively involved with one of the Club's 14 teams. "The Vivians" are named after former club president Vivian Vahlberg and honor the Club's top volunteers.

Join us for the Silver Owls Fall Hoot at 6 p.m., Friday, Sept. 16 at The National Press Club. The Hoot is open to all Press Club members and their guests. Tickets include the club's superb three-course dinner. The meal is preceded by a cash bar. Silver Owls are those who have been members of the Press Club for 25 years or longer. Golden Owls are those who have been members 50 years or more. And Platinum Owls have roosted at the Club for 60 years or longer. "India: The Modi Question" Documentary & Panel
On Tuesday, March 7th at 6 p.m., a truncated version of "India: The Modi Question" will be screened followed by a panel discussion organized by the Indian American Muslim Council. After the BBC aired this documentary on Jan. 17, the Indian government used its emergency powers to ban it from being aired in the country. Modi’s government also forced Twitter and YouTube to block the documentary in India under an unjust 2021 information technology law. Solidarity for Shireen Abu Akleh
Veteran American reporter Shireen Abu Akleh was shot and killed on May 11, 2022 as she was covering a raid near Jenin in the West Bank. A correspondent for Al Jazeera, Shireen had been covering events in the region for 15 years and was following all the protocols to maintain safety. She was in plain sight of the Israeli forces. She was wearing a vest clearly marked PRESS, and was wearing her helmet. But, despite these precautions, evidence indicates she was fired upon and killed by the Israeli military.
