NPC Headliners Book Event: Robert Costa, “Peril”
Washington Post reporter and National Press Club member Robert Costa will speak at a National Press Club in-person Headliners Book Event on Monday, Oct. 4. Costa will discuss “Peril,” the soon-to-be released book he wrote with journalist and Club member Bob Woodward. Gloria Browne-Marshall plans to present her latest book, The African American Woman, 400 Years of Perseverance at a National Press Club Book Rap on Feb. 13 at 6:30 p.m. in the Cosgrove Lounge. Screening of "Black Press: Soldiers without Swords"
Event Description: The National Press Club, Events Committee, is featuring the documentary The Black Press: Soldiers Without Swords, by award-winning director Stanley Nelson. The film debuted on PBS during Black History Month 1999 and was featured by NPR during the March On Washington 50th Anniversary recognition. Nelson was the Sundance Film Festival winner of the “Freedom of Expression Award in 1999 and the documentary was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize. Vivian Awards
National Press Club President Lisa Matthews will recognize journalist and communicator members for outstanding service to the Club at the Vivian Awards ceremony on Wednesday, December 15 at 6:30 p.m. The presentation will take place at the National Press Club in the Holeman Lounge and is open to those Club members who are actively involved with one of the Club's 14 teams. "The Vivians" are named after former club president Vivian Vahlberg and honor the Club's top volunteers.
