Event Description: The National Press Club, Events Committee, is featuring the documentary The Black Press: Soldiers Without Swords, by award-winning director Stanley Nelson. The film debuted on PBS during Black History Month 1999 and was featured by NPR during the March On Washington 50th Anniversary recognition. News Conference: The Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon (UAP) and Nuclear Weapons – Witness Testimonies
A panel of former U.S. Air Force officers will discuss their involvement in UAP incidents at nuclear missile bases and test sites during the Cold War era. Affidavits and declassified U.S. government documents that the substantiate the reality of UAP activity and nuclear weapons sites will be available. In two instances in March 1967, nuclear weapons were disabled during UAP encounters at launch control facilities. Photos Reveal Three Generations of Dioxin Effects

National Press Club's Photography Team presents Club member and documentary photographer Ben Sarao, who made photos of children with birth defects traced to dioxin poisoning in rural Illinois in 1972 and Vietnam in 2019. Sarao compiled the photos in a new book, Shared Tragedy, that he will describe for participants. Joining Sarao to discuss this work is Pulitzer Prize winning science journalist Deborah Blum, director of the Knight Science Journalism program at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has been a broadcaster for 45 years, starting with radio stations in Kansas and Minnesota before moving on to television. Previously, Sam spent nine years as a correspondent for CBS News.
