Want to seek Club office? Get your petition in Today

Members wishing to run for National Press Club office or a position on the Board of Governors have until the close of business today, Nov. 8 to get their petitions in.

Candidates must gather 25 signatures from Journalist members to run for president and 15 signatures for all other positions. The signatures can be gathered either online or in person. The Communicator seat on the Board requires 15 signatures from Communicator members,

The deadline was pushed back to Monday when the annual Club elections were postponed one day to Friday, Dec. 10.

The change in the Election Day schedule was made by the Board of Governors to continue the decades-long tradition of gathering in the Reliable Source on Taco Night, hear the election results and toast the newly-elected president and Club leadership.

Journalist members can run for president, vice president, treasurer, secretary and membership secretary, as well as six slots on the Board of Governors.

There will be three positions for three years, plus three special elections to fill unexpired terms, one for two years and two for one year.

Communicator members will elect one Governor for a three-year term.

Online voting opens Monday, Nov. 22 and ends at 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 10. In-person balloting will take place on the 14th floor from 4-7 p.m. on Dec. 10.
