There's still a seat at the table for Thursday's annual holiday buffet dinner and jazz night at the Reliable Source

Members of the National Press Club and their guests are invited to attend the annual holiday buffet beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12.

Dinner will be accompanied by music from the Greater U Street Jazz Collective beginning at 6 p.m. Also available from the bar will be special cocktails to complement the  buffet.

The price of the buffet is $40 for members and $50 for nonmembers. Reservations are encouraged because this event has sold out in the past.

Holiday Buffet Menu

Soup:

  • Porcini and Chestnut Soup
    A creamy, smooth soup made with mushrooms and sweet chestnuts, with a little bit of special herbs.

Salads:

  • Fennel and Blood Orange Salad
    Crunchy fennel and juicy orange slices with tiny pomegranate seeds, mixed with a light lemon dressing.
  • Honeycrisp Apple Salad
    Sweet apples, tangy cranberries, and crunchy walnuts with creamy goat cheese on a bed of fresh greens.
  • Mediterranean Fava Salad
    Crisp cucumbers, olives, tomatoes, and onions topped with feta cheese for a flavor from faraway places.

Entrees:

  • Grilled Smoked Pork Medallion
    Tender pork slices with a smoky BBQ sauce.
  • Slow-Roasted Salmon
    Soft salmon cooked with a hint of lemon and chives.
  • Herb-Butter Baked Chicken
    Golden chicken baked with herbs and butter.
  • Beef Bourguignonne
    A fancy beef stew with carrots, mushrooms, and onions cooked in a red wine sauce.

Carving Station:

  • Angus Top Round of Beef
    Freshly sliced beef served with creamy horseradish sauce, mayonnaise, and spicy mustard.

Sides:

  • Garlic Mashed Potatoes
    Creamy mashed potatoes with a touch of roasted garlic.
  • Asparagus with Lemon and Breadcrumbs
    Crunchy green asparagus with a sprinkle of lemon and crispy breadcrumbs.

Sweet treats:

  • Bûche de Noël
    A chocolate cake that looks like a log, decorated for the holidays.
     
  • Christmas Cookies
    With bright icing and holiday shapes.
     
  • Cranberry Pie
    Tart cranberries baked into buttery crust.
     
  • Pecan Pie
    Sweet and nutty with a gooey caramel filling.
     
  • Apple Crostata
    A flaky pastry filled with cinnamon apples.
