NPCJI addresses journalism jobs upheavals with twice-monthly advice sessions

The National Press Club Journalism Institute supports job-seeking journalists by offering free career workshops every other week to help with all parts of the job search process, from crafting compelling cover letters to utilizing their own networks in trying to land new roles.

empty office chairsThe format of these virtual Career Office Hours will vary, focusing on instruction and discussion on topics like job applications, navigating hiring processes, networking, and the psychological toll of the search. These sessions will offer practical skills and tips for journalists looking for work, as well as a sense of community and comfort during what can be a difficult time in one’s life.

“The job turbulence journalists are experiencing right now is disheartening, but we don’t have to go through this alone,” said Beth Francesco, executive director for the Institute.

To manage expectations, registrations for each session will be limited to 30 people. Those who sign up early and later cannot attend for whatever reason are asked to let staff know in advance. NPC members and other journalists are welcome to sign up for as many of these sessions as they want.
