WTOP reporter and iPhone whiz Neal Augenstein will offer a "how to" workshop on Jan. 30 from 9:30-11:00 a.m. at the National Press Club on everything from reporting to recording with the iPhone. Learn the power of smartphone reporting with this interactive class -- be sure to bring your iPhone!

You'll learn: what iPhone reporting is, and what equipment is needed; how to turn an iPhone into a microphone; how to record and share audio; basics of shooting video; and how to create content on mobile, for mobile. The session will include suggested apps and resources, a hands-on walkthrough and time for Q&A.

Augenstein is the technology editor and reporter for WTOP-FM and wtop.com –- an all-news station in Washington. Neal started as a general assignment reporter at WTOP 18 years ago. In February 2010 he became the first major-market reporter to do all his field reporting on an iPhone. One of Neal’s earlier iPhones is part of the Newseum’s permanent collection, in recognition of his work leading the way in mobile journalism.
