The tale takes readers on a haunting trip to Iceland's Westman Islands where, as a storm rages outside and glasses are raised in a toast, the deputy ambassador falls dead. Trapped by the weather, the remaining guests grow suspicious of one another as secrets are revealed, and the ambassador's wife begins to wonder whether they have all witnessed a murder.
Reid, an acclaimed writer and co-founder of the Iceland Writers Retreat, served as the first lady of Iceland from 2016 to 2024. As first lady, she advocated for gender equality, entrepreneurship and innovation, and tourism and sustainability, and promoted Iceland's rich literary heritage.
