Communicators plan to learn about media-relations strategies at virtual meeting on Oct. 1 at noon

Former National Press Club board governor and communications strategy consultant Ed Barks plans to discuss how to work with the media to achieve critical business and public policy goals at the NPC Communicators Lunch and Learn on Thursday, Oct. 1, at noon.

Registration for this virtual meeting is free and open to Club members only. Click here to register.

Barks is expected to provide tips for developing magnetic messaging, granting interviews and engaging on digital media during this session, which is hosted by the Club Communicators Team.

A former broadcaster and congressional aide, Barks recently published Reporters Don’t Hate You: 100+ Amazing Media Relations Strategies, a reliable, convenient go-to guide for working with the media.

“It takes a lifetime to prepare to meet the media. It only takes one bad interview to undo all that hard work," Barks said.

Barks has served as president of Barks Communications since 1997. He has taught more than 5,000 business leaders, association executives, government officials, physicians, athletes, entertainers, and communications staff how to work with the media, deliver great presentations, and present winning legislative and regulatory testimony.

This program is hoped to be an interactive discussion rather than a canned presentation. Attendees are encouraged to come prepared with questions so everyone can play a role in the program's success.
