As voters prepare for the 2020 presidential election in November, one of the issues is how Americans get their news. Stelter’s book examines how President Donald Trump has used Fox News to persuade people to believe what Stelter believes are falsehoods.
The event is expected to include a discussion with the author, followed by a question-and-answer session from the audience. Questions may be sent in advance or during the live event to [email protected].
Stelter spoke with over 250 current and former Fox insiders over two years to understand the inner workings of Rupert Murdoch’s multibillion-dollar media empire, according to a press release from his publisher, One Signal Publishers.
The New York Times review said the book "provides a thorough and damning exploration of the incestuous relationship between Trump and his favorite channel — and of Fox’s democracy-decaying role as a White House propaganda organ masquerading as conservative journalism."
"Hoax" is Stetler’s second book. CNN’s chief media correspondent and anchor of “Reliable Sources” wrote The New York Times bestseller "Top of the Morning." Stelter is also a consulting producer of the Apple TV+ series “The Morning Show.” He is the executive producer of the HBO documentary "After Truth: Disinformation and the Cost of Fake News." He was previously a media reporter for The New York Times.
