Thursday's breakfast looks at secrets of testifying before Congress

Reporters and public relations professionals can learn how Brett Kavanaugh and other high-profile witnesses are prepped for congressional testimony from one of the top experts in the field.

Ed Barks, president of Barks Communications and a member of the National Press Club's Board of Governors, plans to lead a discussion with Club members on strategies for preparation and presentation at a professional development session sponsored by the Communicator Team on Thursday from 8-9 a.m. in the Cosgrove Lounge. The program is free to members. Registration is required here.

He is the author of the book The Truth About Public Speaking: The Three Keys to Great Presentations and the training guide Face the Press with Confidence: The Media Interview Companion. His forthcoming book, scheduled for publication later this year, will focus on communications strategy for the C-suite.

The Communicator Team hosts monthly professional development continental breakfasts sessions for journalists and communicators that are free to Club members. A member may bring a guest who pays a $10 fee at the time registration. The fee will be refundable if the guest becomes a Club member.
