The National Press Club & American Legion Post 20 Commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Japan’s official surrender in WWII

In an event co-sponsored by the National Press Club and American Legion Post 20, NPC President Mike Freedman will interview Clifton Truman Daniel and Dr. Kurt Graham as part of the Club’s commemoration of Japan’s official surrender on the battleship USS Missouri 75 years ago Sept. 2, which ended World War II.

This 1-hour program will stream live at 7 PM ET at www.press.org and on the NPC's YouTube Channel, and is free and accessible to both the media and members of the general public. Viewers are invited to submit their questions in advance or during the livestream by emailing their queries to [email protected].

Daniel is the oldest son of Harry and Bess Truman’s only child, Margaret, and E. Clifton Daniel, Jr., the former New York Times Managing Editor. He is the honorary chairman of the board of the Truman Library, and author of two books about his grandparents. He is a frequent speaker and has portrayed Harry Truman on stage.

Graham has been Director of the Truman Library and Museum in Independence, Missouri – President Truman’s hometown -- since July of 2015. Prior to his current position he was head of the Church History Museum in Salt Lake City.  Before that he served as Director of the McCracken Research Library at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West in Cody, Wyoming and prior to that he was a professor of history at the California State University at San Bernardino. He holds a Ph.D. in American History from Brown University.
