Today is deadline for requesting absentee ballot to vote in Club election
Today (Friday, Dec. 4) is the last day members can request absentee ballots to vote in the Club’s annual election of officers and members of the Board of Governors. Requests for absentee ballots must be placed in writing. To request an absentee ballot, submit an email to [email protected] or by post, addressed to the National Press Club’s Membership Department. Please request that the absentee ballot be mailed to your home address. The ballot cannot be mailed to a business address. Member receives French prize for book on terrorism, a day before Paris attacks
Club member Phillppe-Joseph Salazar received one of France’s most prestigious literary awards for non-fiction, the Prix Bristol des Lumières, in Paris on Nov. 12, barely a day before the terrorist attack in the city. The timing of the prize propelled his book, “Paroles Armées, with the subtitle (in French) “How to Understand and Combat Terrorism,” to widespread mention in media coverage of the attack. Air Force secretary cites air power success against ISIS, but sees strains on the smallest force since 1947
Secretary of the Air Force Deborah Lee James underlined the importance of intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance in the fight against Daesh, the Arabic acronym for the terrorist organization ISIS, in a National Press Club luncheon speech Dec. 2. James, just returned from a tour of the Middle East, Africa and Europe, said that Air Force commanders in war zones are asking for more “ISR,” as she termed the three information-gathering activities.
