Nats’ analyst Phil Wood tells how baseball reporting has changed, including no more free booze in press box
Washington Nationals baseball analyst Phil Wood does not have a Twitter account. Growing up in Northern Virginia, he did have a transistor radio. That radio and trips to Griffith Stadium to watch the old Washington Senators (also nicknamed the Nats) ignited his lifelong love of baseball in the '60s. That love led to a long career in baseball broadcasting and a perspective on how baseball reporting has changed over the decades -- a perspective he shared with a National Press Club audience July 20 at one of the Club’s “Get it Online” luncheon discussions. Committee encourages members to apply to present Club Book Raps
Do you have a new book coming out in the next few months? Would you like to present it at a Book Rap at the National Press Club? If so, please let the Club's Books & Author Committee know. While our criteria are very high and based on many different factors, we do make an extra effort to accommodate Club members. We hold Book Raps on journalism, history, politics, novels and -- once in a while -- children's books. We need at least three months' notice before a book is published. We don’t consider self-published or e-only books, paperbacks, poetry, self-help or cookbooks. We're also…
