National Press Club encouraged by end to Trump's media blacklist
National Press Club President Thomas Burr welcomed reports Wednesday that Donald Trump's campaign has ended its blacklist of certain news organizations, though Burr noted the ban should have never existed in the first place and its removal was long overdue. For almost a year, the Republican presidential nominee's campaign has blocked journalists from several major news outlets from receiving credentials to cover Trump events. NRCC head to discuss 2016 House elections on Thursday
Rep. Greg Walden of Oregon, chairman of the National Republican Congressional Campaign Committee, will discuss the 2016 House races at a Club Newsmaker Thursday at 10 a.m., in the Zenger Room. W. Virginia lawmakers to discuss legislation to protect retired miners' benefits
U.S. Sens. Joe Manchin (D-W. Va.) and Shelley Moore Capito (R-W. Va.) and Rep. David McKinley (R-W. Va.) will discuss legislation designed to protect the pensions and retiree health benefits of retired coal miners at a Club Newsmaker Wednesday. Sportscaster Phil Wood to join Club at Nationals game Saturday
Phil Wood, host of “Nats Talk” on MASN, the cable TV home of the Washington Nationals, will meet the National Press Club contingent attending this Saturday's game at Nationals Park. Applications for the Club's annual book fair are being accepted through 5 p.m., Friday, Sept. 25. Applications and materials received after this period will not be reviewed.
