Independent authors plan gathering to discuss publishing, marketing Today at 10 a.m.
A session to help independent authors with publishing, distribution, and marketing is slated to take place today, Thursday, Dec. 13, at 10 a.m. in the McClendon Room. The program is open to National Press Club members who have written independently-published books publicly available for sale (on Amazon, for instance). Print, ebook, POD -- print-on-demand, or audio-book formats qualify. Authors who have published using both the indie and traditional routes are welcome. Today: Former Guardian editor to discuss new book with Washington Post editor
Alan Rusbridger, the long-time former editor-in-chief of The Guardian, today will discuss his new book, “Breaking the News: The Remaking of Journalism and Why it Matters,” with Washington Post Editor Marty Baron. Postponed: 1920s-style cocktail party, dinner slated for Thursday will be rescheduled
The Roaring 20s cocktail party and dinner featuring historian Philip Greene will be rescheduled. A new date will be announced soon. The dinner had been scheduled for Dec. 13, but had to be postponed due to a death in Chef Susan Delbert's family. When the dinner is rescheduled, Greene will lead a journey back to the Roaring 20s with recipes from his last book at a party and dinner at the Fourth Estate Restaurant. Club Election Day is Friday; Online voting ends Thursday
The National Press Club's annual Election Day is Friday. Members are invited to hear the results and celebrate with the newly elected Board in the Reliable Source. Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., with the results announced after the votes are counted. The winners will join the Board of Governors in January 2019 and lead the Club next year. Candidate statements are posted online. That's also where online voting will take place through Thursday. Annual Children's Holiday Party coming up fast
Time is running out to buy tickets for the National Press Club's Annual Children's Holiday Party beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8. Tickets cost $10 and can be purchased online.
