Industry experts explore consequences of expiration of energy tax credits, 2 pm Nov. 29
Energy industry officials and advocates will outline the consequences of the expiration of renewable energy tax credits at a National Press Club Newsmaker event at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, in the Zenger Room. Applications are now open for the Fall 2016 McGraw Fellowship for Business Journalism with a deadline of Dec. 15. Silver Owl Howard Tucker, 86, dies; maintained grandfather clock in Truman Lounge
Howard M. Tucker, a Silver Owl National Press Club member and participant in many Club social and charitable activities, died Nov. 17 from complications of pneumonia. He was 86. A native of Washington, Howard joined the NPC in 1985 and helped organize charity fund-raising "cigar nights" before smoking was banned in the Club in 2007. He also organized Chesapeake Bay fishing trips with NPC colleagues. As an investment banker, financial analyst and consultant, Howard worked for such firms as J.P. Morgan, Legg Mason, Potomac Asset Management and Capital Insights Group. He was a member of a U.S…

Olympic Gold Medalist Centrowitz: Father kept him focused
Matthew Centrowitz, who in Rio this summer became the first U.S. Gold Medalist in the 1500 meter run (the metric mile), told a Newsmaker event at the National Press Club that his father, a two-time Olympian, kept him “focused.” Matt, the father, added: “The Rockefellers probably talked about money, the Kennedys holding office. Former President Gerald Ford spoke before the National Press Club as a representative of the Ford Foundation to award two members of the Washington news media for excellence in reporting.
