Applications open for Politico journalism institute
National Press Club members who are full-time college students or recent graduates are encouraged for the fourth annual Politico Journalism Institute. Applications are open for PJI, which will be held this summer in Washington. The program promotes diversity in newsrooms and is a fantastic way to get a foot in the door at Politico and to try out political journalism. More information and a link to the application here.

Satirist O'Rourke returns to Club to explain election March 16
The 2016 presidential election found P.J. O’Rourke, a libertarian satirist who almost always votes for the Republican nominee, endorsing and voting for Hillary Clinton, he told Jeff Glor on the Charlie Rose Show March 1. Journalism Institute to hold classes in encryption techniques this spring
Classes providing hands-on training in encryption techniques for journalists will be offered this spring by the National Press Club Journalism Institute's Professional Development and the Freedom of the Press teams. The classes will be one Saturday a month, beginning in March, for three months. The dates are March 25, April 29 and May 27. Classes will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Bloomberg Room.
