Children's holiday party is Dec. 9
The National Press Club's annual Children's Holiday Party takes place on Saturday, Dec. 9. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online. The party begins at 11 a.m. with a buffet of corn dogs, hamburgers, French fries, some fruit and vegetables, and plenty of other food. Music will be provided by DJ Paul and the Cloggers will perform. Campaign 1992: National Party Chairmen
In a joint appearance before the National Press Club, Richard Bond, chairman of the Republican National Committee, and Ron Brown, chairman of the Democratic National Committee, discussed the issues facing the American electorate. Each party chairman delivered remarks to the audience on partisan American political issues including economic recovery proposals, and each was given the chance to deliver a rebuttal. Tonight's Irish food and whiskey night moves to Holeman Lounge
The whiskey of three Irish distilleries and a menu of Irish food will be offered tonight beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Holeman Lounge. The event will offer whiskey from three Irish distilleries: Teeling, Tullamore Dew, and Glendalough. Also to be served: Irish potato bites, salmon and crab roulades, corned beef and sauerkraut, and Irish lamb meatballs. Representatives of the distilleries and the Irish embassy will be there to mingle with Club members and talk about whiskey and its cultural heritage. The final lobster night of 2017 takes place Friday in the Fourth Estate. A steamed 1 1/2-pound Maine Lobster with a glass of wine or beer, cole slaw or salad, French fries or oven-crisped new potatoes and dessert is $50, with a 15 percent discount for members. African Union Commission chairperson says no coup in Zimbabwe
Moussa Faki Mahamat, chairperson of the African Union Commission, told a Club Headliners Luncheon Wednesday that the unfolding unrest in Zimbabwe was not a coup. “The military have reassured us that this is not a coup d’etat,” Mahamat said through a translator. He said a delegation sent to the country provided the information. According to Mahamat, President Robert Mugabe and his family are safe in the country, a key factor in making that determination.
