Headliners Book Rap revisits 1968
Lawrence O’Donnell, an MSNBC anchor and Emmy-winning TV writer, will discuss his new book, Playing with Fire: The 1968 Election and the Transformation of American Politics, at a National Press Club Headliners Book Rap on Wednesday, Dec. 13, at 6:30 p.m. in the Club’s conference rooms. Hear about effective communications strategies Dec. 6
Chris Thorne, managing director of 3 Advertising, will talk a out effective communications at the next National Press Club Communicators Breakfast on Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 8 a.m. in the Cosgrove Lounge. Mix Jewish cooking and wine at dinner Dec. 5
Award-winning author Joan Nathan will sign copies of her latest cookbook, King Solomon’s Table, A Culinary Exploration of Jewish Cooking from Around the World, at a five-course wine dinner in the Fourth Estate on Tuesday, Dec. 5. World Bank president aims to end extreme poverty by 2030
World Bank President Jim Yong Kim, a physician and anthropologist, told a National Press Club Headliners Luncheon Monday that economic growth, stability and investment in people were the “pillars” to meet the Bank’s goals of eliminating extreme poverty by 2030 and boosting prosperity for the poorest 40 percent of the world’s population. Extreme poverty, living on less than $1.90 a day, remains the condition of 767 million people, 1.1 billion less than in 1990, he said. The National Press Club is launching a new dinner series featuring ambassadors with the first one scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 29. Iraqi Ambassador Fareed Yasseen will be the first guest, fielding questions from Club President Jeff Ballou, at the event, sponsored by the International Correspondents and Events teams. Kudos to two Club members
Anthony Gallo's two-act play, "Luther," takes place Saturday. Nov. 18, at the Cosmos Theater, 2121 Massachusetts Ave. NW in Washington.
