NPC Book Fair & Authors' Night still accepting author applications
The region’s premiere holiday book event is back for the 40th year and continues to accept author applications through 5 pm on Friday, Sept. 29. The application fee of $75 for National Press Club members and $150 for non-members is due and payable upon acceptance to the Book Fair. Authors are expected to be available for the entirety of the event on Friday, Nov. 10 from 5 pm to 8.30 pm. For more information and to submit an application, click here. Press vs. Politicians Spelling Bee, Sept. 26
Relationships between politicians and the media who cover them are constantly being highlighted, but on Tuesday, Sept. 26, in the National Press Club’s historic ballroom, fun and friendly competition will prevail as lawmakers and reporters compete in the uproariously entertaining Press vs. Politicians Spelling Bee. Dramatic photos on display in Press Club lobby through Sept. 29
Images of conflict, celebration, and solitude are on display in the National Press Club lobby, part of the 18th annual members' photo exhibit that continues through Friday, Sept. 29. The exhibit, displaying both print and electronic images, is the signature event of the Club's Photography Team. Film, interview tell story of Mexican journalists fleeing violence
A documentary and a phone interview, at a National Press Club Journalism Institute event Sept. 11, told the story of three Mexican journalists who fled from violence in Mexico to seek asylum in the U.S. Two journalists faced serious immigration hurdles, a delay that continues after three years in limbo for one and jail for the other. “It’s not good in Mexico and it’s not good in the United States as it pertains to journalists from Mexico and other countries,” said John Donnelly, chairman of the Club’s Press Freedom Team. African American History museum celebrates at NPC Headliners Luncheon, Sept. 21
Lonnie G. Bunch III, director of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture, plans to speak at a National Press Club Headliners Luncheon on Sept. 21 as the museum marks its first anniversary.
