"Somatotype" makes Gillman NPC Spelling Bee Champ
Dallas Morning News Bureau Chief Todd Gillman is the champion of the 2017 National Press Club Spelling Bee beating out Florida Democrat Rep. Ted Deutch with the word “somatotype.” Somatotype is defined as a term for a body type. The competition, which was moderated by Dr. Jacques Bailly from the Scripps National Spelling Bee, featured a team of reporters facing off against a bipartisan group of lawmakers. The Washington region’s premiere holiday book event, the National Press Club Book Fair, is back for its 40th year and will accept author applications through 5 p.m., this Friday, Sept. 29. Applications received after the deadline will not be reviewed. All literary genres are considered, however self-published books and books only available in e-format will not be accepted.
