Joint Television Venture in the Soviet Union
Mr. Donahue and Mr. Pozner spoke about a new joint television venture scheduled to be launched on Soviet TV. Mr. Pozner spoke about the failed coup by Communist hard-liners and collapse of communism in the Soviet Union, and their effects on communication and politics in that country. Phil Donahue hosts a nationally syndicated talk show in the United States, and Vladimir Pozner was the top political commentator on Soviet television until he resigned after the head of Soviet television forbade criticism of Soviet President Gorbachev in 1991.

National Press Club member April Ryan is achieving viral fame during the Trump administration for ranking among the most aggressive White House press questioners -- and she will soon receive a national recognition for her efforts. Remembering Herbert Hoover: Snippet of Press Club history
Herbert Hoover was a dues-paying National Press Club member for decades, far longer than any of the other U. S. presidents who have belonged, many of them as honorary members. Hoover joined in 1921, eight years before he entered the White House, and was a frequent Club speaker. His last such appearance, in 1954, 21 years after he left the presidency, drew a luncheon audience of almost 500 people.
