NPC Journalism Institute's annual golf tournament postponed; new date to be announced
Because of the the sudden death of the National Press Club's Journalism Institute Executive Director Julie Schoo, the Institute board has decided to postpone its annual golf tournament fundraiser until later this year. A new date will be announced in the coming months. The tournament had been scheduled for May 29 at Woodmere Country Club in Mitchellville, Md. All ticket purchasers have received a full refund. Learn how to measure return on investment of communications at breakfast, May 22
All National Press Club members are invited to a professional development session at the Club on Tuesday, May 22, to learn about calculating and expressing the impact of communications in business terms and how to best measure reach and impact. Club member Gallo receives Wharton School citation
Club member Anthony E. Gallo was named the recipient of The Wharton Graduate Emeritus Society 2018 Crandall Challenge Citation of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania for his work as a dramatist, journalist, and economist. President Trump, Warren Buffet, Elon Musk, and John Huntsman are also among graduates of the school. Gallo was also the keynote address speaker at the school's 2018 reunion dinner. He is the only known dramatist in the 140 history of the school.

Japanese Ambassador to the United States, Takakazu Kuriyama, spoke in a morning newsmaker session at the National Press Club to discuss U.S.-Japanese trade relations.
