Sign up now for Club tour of historic Washington Navy Yard, June 1
There is still time to register for a tour of the historic Washington Navy Yard on Friday, June 1, at 11 a.m. The walking tour, open to National Press Club members and their guests, will take about 90 minutes and will conclude with a visit to the National Museum of the U.S. Navy. The tour is sponsored by the Club Events Team and American Legion Post 20 (which is affiliated with the Club) and will be hosted by the Naval Historical Foundation. Finland's Role in the New Europe
Prime Minister Esko Aho of Finland addressed a luncheon at the National Press Club on the spread of democracy in Europe and Finland's role in the economic and political changes in Europe. The family of Julie Schoo has let the Club know there will be a memorial service for her at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 21, at Christ Church Georgetown, 3116 O Street NW, Washington, D.C.. Schoo, who served the National Press Club and its Journalism Institute for 33 years, passed away at home earlier this month. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, those who wish to remember Julie make a contribution to the National Press Club Journalism Institute in her name or to Christ Church.
