Exhibit your best work at NPC: Members photo exhibit entries due Aug. 6 to 24
It's time to select your pictures for entry into National Press Club's 19th annual members' photo exhibit. Members' print photos and electronic images for the exhibit are accepted from Aug. 6 to 24, and will be on display in the Club's 13th floor lobby from Aug. 31 to Sept. 28. Members can submit up to six pictures for display: four electronic images and two print photos. All pictures must be the member's original work, taken only by the member, and not displayed in previous Club exhibits. Union Pacific CEO Lance Fritz calls for modernizing, not withdrawing from, NAFTA
Withdrawing from the North American Free Trade Agreement would be “disastrous” for the U.S. economy as well as for workers, Union Pacific CEO Lance Fritz said at a National Press Club Headliners luncheon on Thursday. Instead, he said, the Trump administration should be looking at ways to “modernize” the trade agreement. Julie Schoo knew a valuable painting when she saw it and was even more skilled at spotting something to treasure within each person she met. “Julie Schoo was a collector and connoisseur of life’s finer things, that includes people,” Kathy Kiely said at a July 10 memorial service for Schoo, the former executive director of the National Press Club Journalism Institute. “Julie curated, cherished and took care of us.” Schoo, 69, died suddenly and unexpectedly May 9. Judges needed July 21 for National Press Club scholarships selection session
The National Press Club Scholarship Team has a second session scheduled for Club member volunteers to select the 2018 scholarship winners. Starting at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, July 21, through mid-afternoon, volunteers will judge entries to decide who will win this year’s Zimmerman scholarship -- $5,000 for an incoming college freshman who plans to become a journalist.
