Lt. Gen. Michelle D. Johnson, the first female superintendent of the Air Force Academy, will speak at a National Press Club luncheon on May 8. She will speak on the 60th anniversary of the Academy and its role in providing future leadership for the Air Force at this time of challenges and budget constraints. Baseball Opening Day
After a long, cold winter baseball is back! The Nats' home opener is Monday, April 6, and five of the six large HD TV sets in the Truman Lounge will be turned to the game starting at 4pm. The Orioles’ opening game is the same day and at the request of O's fans, one of the sets will tuned to that game starting at 3pm. Whichever team you root for, drop by to cheer it on and enjoy traditional baseball food along with the full Reliable Source menu and happy hour specials.

NPC Dinner with Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations
United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will speak at a National Press Club dinner April 16. Ban, who succeeded Kofi Annan in 2007 and won a re-election in 2011, will become the sixth UN secretary-general to speak at the NPC. The event will follow the typical NPC luncheon format, except that it will be a dinner. The event will begin with a VIP reception at 6 p.m. Club members wishing to attend the reception must RSVP to [email protected] no later than 48 hours before the event. Space may be limited. Mr. Hinson, who will retire from his position as FAA administrator at the end of the year, reflected on his four years at the agency. He spoke about several accomplishments, including modernizing the air traffic control system, and reforming how the FAA procures equipment and how the agency is financed. He also stressed the need for continued improvements in these areas to meet the needs of a continually growing air travel industry. After his remarks, he took questions from the audience.
